The Prince of Wales Theatre has taken its final bow – for now – as the curtains closed on its current chapter with an unforgettable final performance by local amateur dramatic societies.
For over 40 years, the theatre has been a beacon of creativity, culture, and community spirit. It has given us laughter, tears, and countless memories. Now, due to significant local funding challenges and necessary demolition works nearby that impact safety, we must pause.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff, incredible performers, and the unsung heroes who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Your passion has turned every show into a treasured experience, and your contributions will never be forgotten. The stage will always carry the echoes of your hard work and passion.
This is not the end. This is merely the end of Act One.
Cannock Chase Theatre Trust is already working hard to raise the curtain once more. While this necessary interval may take time, our hope remains strong: that one day soon, the theatre will return stronger, brighter, and ready to create new stories.
So, keep hold of your programmes, savour your interval ice creams, and prepare for Act Two. Together, we will ensure the show goes on.
Let’s look forward together. The best is yet to come.
What Happens Now?
During this interval, we’ll be working tirelessly behind the scenes:
- Continuing discussions with Cannock Chase District Council about the transfer of the theatre to community ownership.
- Developing comprehensive business and fundraising plans.
- Building our volunteer network and skills base.
- Securing essential funding for building improvements.
