We welcome Councillor Lyons’s proposal to invite the Theatres Trust to Cannock, and we’re encouraged to see the future of the Prince of Wales Theatre back on the council’s agenda.
The Theatres Trust is the national expert body on exactly this kind of situation. They’ve helped councils and communities across the country find sustainable, practical paths forward for venues that might otherwise have been lost. Having them in the room with councillors from all groups can only be a good thing.
For our part, CCTT has always been ready to engage. We have the backing of nearly 20,000 people who want to see this theatre reopen, and that hasn’t changed.
We’re not looking to relitigate the past. We’re looking to get the Prince of Wales open again, and we’d welcome a conversation with any councillor or officer who shares that goal.
